Uncle Harold and Aunt Violet went everywhere together.
Much to their dissappointment, God did not bless
them with children. So, they sort of became second parents
to my mother and her brothers. Violet was my grandmother's sister.
I don't know too much about Uncle Harold. Only that he was a nice man
who gave me neat stuff. Once we went to a Disney double feature and
he nearly bought out the concession stand for me.

His last name was Dutch, but I never knew what his heritage was.
I know he was from Kansas and he would say "rediklus" instead of "rediculous".
I liked the way he said it, so I remembered.

Aunt Violet and Uncle Harold were married for over 55 years
when a stomach aneurysm took him suddenly. He was over 80.
I don't know if he ever smoked or not. Not that I recall, anyway.
But he did have a bad heart...for about 20 years.
As far as I know, he only had the one
attack when I was about 3 or 4.

When I think of Uncle Harold and his love for Aunt Violet, I think of a
song that was popular in the 70's when I was in high school. I don't
know the name or the performer, but the words are:

"I'll give you a daisy a day, dear,
I'll give you a daisy a day.
I'll love you until the river run clear
Till the four winds we know blow away"

Uncle Harold died in August of 1980.
Less then a year later, Aunt Violet was told she had cancer.
On Holy Thursday 1982, Aunt Violet went to get her daisy.
