Once upon a time in the United States of America,
there were 6 nice blokes who all worked together at an engineering firm.
The first was born in America, the second in Scotland, the third in
England, the fourth in Wales, the fifth in Ireland, and the sixth, well...he was a Scouser.
(For those of you that don't know, a Scouser
is a person from Liverpool, England, where a number of the inhabitants are
descended from Irish who emmigrated there long ago.)
The American was named Yannis McCarthy (his
mother was Greek). The Scott was called Ian MacPherson,
John Smith signed in as the Englishman, while Ioan Thomas was from Wales. Our friend from Ireland was Sean O'Keefe, and the
Scouser...well, they all just called him "Scouse" and he didn't seem to
mind.
Now, we find our nice fellas all on their own
for St. Patrick's Day. It's
about 4PM, and they are each trying to decide what to do with themselves
on this evening. Yannis was trying to decide in which Irish bar he would
spend his dollars. Ian was thinking of a quick one at a local British
establishment. John thought, perhaps, this was a good night to go directly
home for a private pint. Ioan wondered if he might pick up something on the
way home. Sean pondered whether he would drink "Harp's" or "Guinness". And Scouse, well, he just figured the car would stop wherever it wanted and he'd find that silly American excuse for a pint there.
