John and Ian desperately wanted to find a British establishment.

Scouse hoped he could find a decent game of darts.

Ioan longed for both.

Sean and Yannis figured what the heck...

So, the driver began the short drive to a Brit bar with which he was familar.
They arrived to see this sign posted boldly on the door.

And thus began a discussion of what the British call, "The Irish Question", and the Irish call, "The Troubles".

John, the Englishman, was very embarrassed, poor man wished he could crawl under the motorcar.

Ioan, the Welshman, really didn't have much of an opinion.

Ian, the Scott, claimed that Northern Ireland was British, end of discussion.

Yannis, our American friend,  loudly proclaimed that there would never be peace in Ireland as long as it was divided.

Sean, our lad from Dublin, said in his heart, he longed for a united Ireland, but it was not worth anyone dying over.

And  Scouse,  well, of the six, he was the only one who had ever been to Northern Ireland. Scouse had been in Her Majesty's Service. Not being one to mince words, he asked, "Any of you ever been to bleedin' Northern Ireland?" None of the other five had. Scouse said, "So what makes you think you have anything to say about it, anyway?" Thus, Scouse had the last word. And he was happy.
